Love at First Sight
Chateau Rhianfa is on the island of Anglesey, set in the Irish Sea and separated from the mainland of northwest Wales by the narrow Menai Strait. Overlooking the Strait, the hotel is a fantastical fairytale castle with soaring spires and chimney pots. It was built in the mid-19th century in the romantic Gothic style favoured by French aristocrats during the 16th century, especially in the Loire Valley. The property features three acres of beautifully landscaped gardens which run down to the water's edge and retains many original features in its interior, combined with contemporary styling and facilities.
Romance
Wake up on a sunny morning at the Chateau Rhianfa, and you could easily imagine that you've been transported to the bucolic beauty of France's Loire Valley. In fact, the views across the Menai Straits to the Snowdonia peaks are stunning in their own right, providing a perfectly evocative and romantic setting for couples celebrating a special occasion. The hotel is an ideal place to get married. Weddings of every size can be catered for, and the hotel is licensed for civil ceremonies. You can arrive with a flourish by private boat or helicopter, the impressive grounds will make a perfect backdrop for your ceremony and photographs, and the Great Hall makes for an elegant setting for your reception.
Your Stay
Chateau Rhianfa has 22 guestrooms and suites and all have carefully chosen furnishings and decor. You can choose the exceptional luxury of one of the Superior Suites, or book the Stable Flat or one of the two cottages, all of which have self-catering facilities, with the cottages also featuring log fires.
What to Do
There's a host of activities you can enjoy including falconry, tennis, croquet and cocktail making. If you're in the mood for some exciting outdoor activities you can go quad biking, rock climbing, jet skiing or paintballing. The hotel can also organise excursions including a tour of the spectacular countryside around Mount Snowdon, with a trip on the Snowdon Mountain Railway. You can also visit the Penrhyn Quarry and try the world's longest zipline, take a boat ride along the Menai Strait or visit the medieval splendour of nearby Beaumaris Castle.
The Food of Love
The kitchen at Chateau Rhianfa makes full use of local produce such as prime Welsh beef and fish and seafood from the Menai Strait and the Irish Sea to create a gourmet dining experience. The menu includes dishes like dived Anglesey scallops, duo of beef with truffle pomme puree, and lemon tart with raspberry sorbet and crème fraiche.
